The short version
- MosyMoney is a budgeting and visibility tool. It reads your accounts; it never moves money, and nothing it shows you is financial advice.
- 60 days free, then a yearly price. $12 a year for one person or $24 a year for a Couples plan covering two. It renews each year until you cancel, and you can cancel any time in Settings.
- You choose what your partner sees. Connecting a bank shares nothing. Only what you mark as split or theirs crosses.
- The numbers come from your banks. They can be late, missing or miscategorized, so check anything important before you rely on it.
- Disputes go to individual arbitration, not class actions. You can opt out within 30 days of first accepting these Terms.
1. Agreeing to these terms
These Terms of Use, together with our Privacy Policy (the “Terms”), govern your use of the MosyMoney website and web application (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, don’t use the Service.
Each person using MosyMoney has their own account and accepts these Terms for themselves, including a partner who joins by invitation.
2. What MosyMoney is
MosyMoney is a personal-finance application for individuals and for two people who share expenses. It retrieves data from the financial accounts you connect, identifies your recurring bills, tracks shared expenses and the balance between you and a partner, and shows what is left for the month.
The Service is a budgeting and visibility tool only. It does not hold, transmit or move money between people or financial institutions. Settling up with a partner happens outside MosyMoney; the Service only records it.
3. Who can use it
- You must be at least 18 and able to enter into a binding contract.
- You must live in the United States, and the accounts you connect must be held at U.S. financial institutions.
- You may not use the Service if we have previously closed your account for breaking these Terms, or if your use would violate any law, including U.S. sanctions and export-control laws.
4. Your account
Give us accurate information when you sign up and keep it current. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials confidential and, to the extent the law allows, for activity on your account. We recommend turning on two-factor authentication in Settings.
Tell us right away at info@mosymoney.com if you suspect unauthorized use of your account. We are not liable for losses caused by your failure to safeguard your credentials, except to the extent caused by our own breach of these Terms or the law.
5. Shared spaces
A shared space pairs exactly two people. This section covers how one is formed, what crosses it, and what happens when a member leaves.
Invitations
You form a shared space by inviting one other person by email. They join only after creating their own account, accepting these Terms, and accepting the invitation. By inviting someone, you confirm you have a good-faith reason to share financial information with that person.
What your partner can see
Connecting a financial account shares nothing by itself. Your partner sees the transactions and recurring bills you mark as split or theirs, the details of those items (including merchant, amount, category, your notes, and the name of the institution and account they came from), and the running balance between you. Your income, your account balances and what you have left for the month are not shown to them. The Privacy Policy describes this in full.
You alone decide what to connect and what to mark as split or theirs. We are not responsible for your decision, or your partner’s, to share or not share any item.
Leaving a shared space
If either member deletes their account, the space continues for the remaining partner. That person keeps their own data, but the transactions the departing member shared and the settlements they recorded are removed from the space. If you want to stop sharing without deleting your account, contact us and we will separate the space for you.
If you were added without your consent
If you believe you are in a shared space you did not agree to join, contact info@mosymoney.com. We will remove you from it and stop the sharing while we look into it.
6. Free trial, subscription and renewal
- Free trial. Each new account gets a 60-day free trial with full access. No payment method is needed to start it.
- Price. After the trial, continued access requires a subscription: $12.00 per year for an Individual plan, or $24.00 per year for a Couples plan. Fees are charged in advance through our payment processor, Stripe, to the payment method of the person who subscribes.
- What a Couples plan covers. A Couples plan covers the subscriber and the one person sharing their space, for as long as they share it. If the space ends, the other person is no longer covered by that plan.
- Subscribing during a trial. If you subscribe with more than two days of your trial left, you keep your remaining free days and are first charged when the trial ends. If you subscribe in the last two days, you are charged right away and your paid year starts that day. The checkout form shows the amount due today before you confirm.
- Automatic renewal. Your subscription renews automatically for successive one-year terms at the then-current price until you cancel. We email a reminder before your trial ends and before each renewal.
- Cancelling. You can cancel any time in Settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, and you keep access until then.
- Refunds. Fees are non-refundable and we don’t refund partial periods, except where the law requires it. If you think you were charged in error, contact us and we will look at it.
- Failed payments and lapsed access. If a renewal payment fails, we may retry it for a short period before the subscription is cancelled. When a trial or subscription ends without a new one, your access to the Service is paused and we stop syncing your connected accounts. Your data is kept so you can return, until you delete your account.
- Codes. We may issue codes that extend a trial or grant complimentary access. Unless we say otherwise, a code is for one person, can be used once, has no cash value, covers the core Service only, and can be withdrawn before it is redeemed.
- Price changes. We may change our prices with at least 30 days’ notice. A new price applies from your next renewal, and you can cancel before then if you don’t accept it.
- Taxes. Prices do not include sales or similar taxes. Where we are required to collect them, they are added to your charge.
7. Connecting your financial accounts
Your authorization
To provide the Service we use a third-party account-aggregation provider, currently Quiltt, which works with its own data-connection partners. By connecting a financial account, you authorize MosyMoney and its aggregation providers to access, retrieve, transmit and store your financial account information, on your behalf, for the purpose of providing the Service. You confirm that you have the right to connect each account you link.
The connection is read-only. Your bank credentials go to the aggregation provider and your bank, not to us, and neither we nor they can move money through it. Your use of the connection may also be subject to the aggregation provider’s own end-user terms, which are presented when you connect.
You can withdraw this authorization at any time by disconnecting an account or deleting your MosyMoney account.
No guarantee of accuracy
We don’t control, and aren’t responsible for, the accuracy, availability or timeliness of data from your financial institutions or our aggregation providers. Outages, broken connections, delayed postings and miscategorized transactions happen, and can make your what’s-left figure or any other number in the Service wrong. Verify a figure independently before relying on it for a financial decision.
8. Not financial, legal or tax advice
Everything in the Service, including forecasts, categories, recurring-bill detection and the what’s-left figure, is provided for information and organization only. Nothing in it is financial, investment, legal, tax or accounting advice, and MosyMoney is not a fiduciary, financial advisor or broker-dealer. Consult a qualified professional before making financial decisions.
Some categorization and bill naming is done by automated systems, including AI models. Their output can be inaccurate or incomplete; you can correct it in the Service, and you should check it before relying on it.
9. Personalized offers
As of the effective date above, MosyMoney shows no advertising and does not use your financial data to market anything to you. This section describes a feature we may offer in the future.
- Opt-in only. We may identify ways you could save money, such as mortgage, insurance, credit card or debt-consolidation offers, based on patterns in your connected financial data. We will not use your financial data to generate or personalize such offers unless you have separately and affirmatively turned that feature on in the Service. Accepting these Terms is not that consent, and you can turn the feature off again at any time.
- How we may be paid. If you take up an offer from a third party, we may receive a referral fee or commission from them. We will say so where the offer is shown.
- Your decision. Whether to engage with any third-party provider is entirely up to you. We are not a party to, and are not responsible for, any resulting transaction or that provider’s products, pricing, underwriting or conduct.
10. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for any unlawful purpose;
- attempt to gain unauthorized access to another person’s account, shared space or data;
- reverse engineer, decompile or scrape the Service, or attempt to extract its source code or underlying data models;
- interfere with or disrupt the Service or the infrastructure it runs on;
- upload or transmit viruses, malware or other harmful code; or
- misrepresent who you are, or your authority to connect a financial account or to invite someone into a shared space.
11. Intellectual property and feedback
The Service, including its software, design, text, graphics, logos and the MosyMoney name and marks, is owned by MosyMoney or its licensors and protected by intellectual-property laws. As long as you comply with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your personal, non-commercial purposes.
You keep ownership of the financial data you connect and the information you add. You grant us the rights we need to store, process and display it in order to operate the Service, as described in these Terms and the Privacy Policy.
If you send us feedback or suggestions, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free license to use them for any purpose, with no obligation or payment to you.
12. Third-party services
The Service relies on and may link to third-party services, including your financial institutions, our aggregation provider and our payment processor. We don’t control them and aren’t responsible for their content, accuracy or practices. Your use of them is at your own risk and subject to their terms.
13. Early access and beta features
MosyMoney is a young product, and some or all of the Service may be offered as early access, beta or experimental. Those features may change or be withdrawn at any time without notice, may be less reliable than you would expect of a finished product, and are provided “as is” with no warranty beyond what the law requires.
14. Privacy and electronic communications
Our Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use and share your personal and financial information, and forms part of these Terms. You agree to receive notices, disclosures and other communications from us electronically, by email or in the Service, rather than on paper. You can withdraw that consent by closing your account, though some legal notices may still have to reach you another way.
15. Security and data breaches
We maintain commercially reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect your data, including encryption in transit and at rest and the use of vetted aggregation and payment providers. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration or destruction of data will never occur.
If we become aware of a security breach resulting in unauthorized access to your personal or financial information, we will notify affected users without unreasonable delay and as the law requires, and will describe what happened and what we are doing about it. Remedies for a breach are governed by applicable law and by the limitation of liability in Section 18.
16. Closing your account and your data
You can delete your account at any time from Settings, or by contacting info@mosymoney.com. Deleting your account cancels any active subscription immediately, with no automatic refund, and removes your data as described in the Privacy Policy. We keep only what the law requires, what is needed to prevent fraud or resolve an open dispute, and what remains for a limited time in routine encrypted backups.
You can download a copy of your data at any time in the Service, under Settings → Export my data. The export stays available after a trial or subscription has ended, and arrives as spreadsheet (CSV) files in a single zip.
17. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. MOSYMONEY DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE, THAT ANY CONNECTED-ACCOUNT DATA WILL BE ACCURATE OR CURRENT, OR THAT ANY THIRD-PARTY AGGREGATION, PAYMENT OR API PROVIDER WILL BE AVAILABLE. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OF CERTAIN WARRANTIES, SO SOME OF THESE EXCLUSIONS MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
18. Limitation of liability
Cap. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MOSYMONEY’S TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE, FOR ANY CAUSE OF ACTION AND UNDER ANY THEORY OF LIABILITY, WILL NOT EXCEED THE SUBSCRIPTION FEES ACTUALLY PAID TO MOSYMONEY FOR YOUR ACCESS IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM. IF NO FEES WERE PAID IN THAT PERIOD (FOR EXAMPLE, DURING A FREE TRIAL OR COMPLIMENTARY ACCESS), IT WILL NOT EXCEED FIFTY DOLLARS ($50).
Excluded damages. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MOSYMONEY WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE OR ANY FINANCIAL, BUDGETING OR SPENDING DECISION MADE IN RELIANCE ON IT, EVEN IF MOSYMONEY HAS BEEN ADVISED THAT SUCH DAMAGES ARE POSSIBLE.
Basis of the bargain. Our prices reflect this allocation of risk, and we could not offer the Service at its price without these limits. They apply even if a limited remedy fails of its essential purpose. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so some of the above may not apply to you.
19. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless MosyMoney and its officers, directors, employees and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of: (a) your breach of these Terms; (b) your misuse of the Service; (c) your violation of any law or of anyone else’s rights, including your partner’s; or (d) the data or content you submit to the Service.
20. Suspension, termination and changes to the Service
These Terms apply for as long as you use the Service. You can stop at any time by deleting your account. We may suspend or end your access, with or without notice, if you breach these Terms, if the law requires it, or if we discontinue the Service.
We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. If we discontinue it entirely, we will give reasonable advance notice and, where practicable, a reasonable opportunity to export your data.
Sections 7, 8 and 11 through 23, and any other provision that by its nature should survive, continue to apply after these Terms end.
21. Disputes and arbitration
Please read this section carefully. It affects how disputes between you and MosyMoney are resolved.
Talk to us first
Before starting any formal proceeding, you agree to contact us at info@mosymoney.com and try in good faith to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days.
Binding individual arbitration
If we can’t resolve it informally, you and MosyMoney agree that the dispute will be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court, except as set out below. The arbitrator, not a court, decides questions about the interpretation, applicability or enforceability of this arbitration agreement, other than the class-action waiver below.
Small-claims court
Either of us may instead bring an individual claim in small-claims court if it qualifies.
No class actions
You and MosyMoney may bring claims against each other only individually, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, consolidated or representative proceeding. If a court finds this waiver unenforceable for a particular claim, that claim proceeds in court and the rest stays in arbitration.
No jury trial
To the extent any claim proceeds in court rather than arbitration, you and MosyMoney each waive the right to a jury trial.
Your right to opt out
You can opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing info@mosymoney.com from the address on your account within 30 days of first accepting these Terms, saying that you opt out. Opting out affects no other part of these Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, except that the Federal Arbitration Act governs the interpretation and enforcement of this section.
22. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or in the Service at least 15 days before they take effect, and post the new version here with a new effective date. Continuing to use the Service after that date means you accept the revised Terms.
23. General
- Entire agreement. These Terms, including the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and MosyMoney about the Service.
- Severability. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remain in full force.
- No waiver. Our not enforcing a provision is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
- Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our written consent. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
- Events beyond our control. We are not liable for failures or delays caused by things outside our reasonable control, including outages of third-party aggregation, payment or API providers.
- Sanctions and export control. You confirm that you are not located in or a resident of a country subject to a U.S. government embargo, and are not on any U.S. government restricted-party list.
- Notices. Send legal notices to us at info@mosymoney.com. We may send notices to you at the email address on your account.
